Wet and Wild Turkeys 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 4
I scouted more this year than any other year, my spots were loaded with birds, and I had the time to get after them. The season showed promise and it almost seemed like it was gonna be too easy.
Wrong
My turkey season started Sunday and ended today. It was a tough 5 days for hunting. With rainy/windy weather all week long the birds were not vocal or moving around much. In fact, I never heard a gobble all week long.
Long story short. . .
Yesterday at noon I stopped at an 11 acre piece of property we hunt and saw 6 or 7 birds going up the hill on one side of the property. I went around the other side and was able to work a group of jakes just like they read a script in a movie. It worked too perfect to pass it up. Later yesterday afternoon my dad and I set up in another spot and again worked a group of jakes to a T. They might not be big fat gobblers with long beards but they were well earned and two birds I'm very proud of.
